The answer is YES. Many people including myself have made a killing from cragslist, and it still works, it is not as effective as it used to be in past years but it is still a cash cow and you can still earn a lot from it, a normal marketer who is just starting can easily earn $60-$100 per day depending on how much dedicated and smart he is. Well, I am sure, once you visit the CraigsList website, you will close it within 10 seconds, yes it it ugly, frustrating, stupid looking website, but hey ! you want to milk it - right ? so just ignore their design and don’t under estimate that it can bring you decent cash. So here is a quick intro of CL. It was designed in 1999 where people used to post bulletins, Ads, job postings etc free, it is still free but the difference is that back in 1999 it was limited to a few cities in the US but now its gone global, almost 400-500 cities including international Ads. They do have paid Ads, but its FREE for all, so we will make money with free postings of-course. I will not go into basics but rather throw some money making ideas that actually work.

Ok, once you have familiarized yourself with that text based website, we are ready to go. First you should pick up what you want to promote, your own product ? do you have a product ? if NO, can you spend some money to get your product ready by any freelancer ? if NO, then lets pick affiliate products and find products on Commission Junction or Clickbank.I have found by testing that the most effective cities are New York, Los Angeles, California, Seattle, Florida, San Francisco, and New jersey but depending on your niche and product that you are promoting you can try other cities as well. Ok below are the few quick methods that are very  effective;

1. Promote the “Get rich”, “Money Making” products like ebooks, software etc
2. Post Ads in many cities, do not post excessively in one section, it will be flagged and deleted
3. Image Ads are more effective
4. Do not post early in the morning, its important
5. You can always use tools for posting ads (yeah its called spam)

Ok that was easy and hard work, but you will make some decent money through it. Now, lets look it in a different way, why not to approach people who are seeking something ? You might have noticed people post ads when they seek something, now for this you should have a website and an account with eBay, Amazon and/or CJ where you will create a page to that specific product and then contact the buyer and redirect them to that page OR simply hide your affiliate link with tinyurl and contact the buyer and give them that link, they will buy the product and you will get commission. This still works for me, and people also thank me for helping them our, its a win-win situation. haa.

If you go Blackhat and think like an alien, then lets consider posting a job vacancy for people who are interested in working from home, now there are hundreds of thousands of people who wish they could somehow work from home for a few hours and make a lot of money, they can never find a magic formula and they happily pay us for our new report / ebook, lets use them to make some money again. Post an ad and many people will contact you for SURE, I can guarantee you, then using any Autoresponder e.g. GMail, create an email which will be like you are talking to that person and telling them how to work from home, in that email you can promote affiliate products, put CPA offers, stuff your cookie and sky is the limit, think out of the box and there are many other ideas. The good thing is that you are making a good list of people who are seeking jobs, and you can promote many “get rich” products easily and the conversion rate is higher.

Well, first line for this article will be : Illegal, Illegal and Unethical

Some people completely go crazy without a single thought, and don’t care what they are doing to others for making money. Companies spend thousands of dollars for the development of any software, programmers spend hundreds of hours for developing their software and these ****** put those software on torrents in seconds, not even minutes to be redistributed unethically and illegally.

Personally these kind of torrent tools and websites offering torrents make me sick, I think we have come to a point where no company can save us from these kind of people downloading software illegally, and there are no set rules to be implemented, I remember we had very strict rules on our forums back in late 90’s and early 2000, where even person talking about illegal software or cracks was being banned, and now a simple Google query can find your software for free and without even spending 2 minutes. Bullshit !

Every single day companies have new products and on the same day that product is cracked and spread, they still make a lot out of it, but this effects small individuals who try their best to make a decent living by selling their small software but again these people kill their dreams by spreading it.

CPA and PPI Exploitation

Not only distributing software, but spreading viruses, spy-ware, Trojans and more. This is not the end, they also exploit the Affiliate programs and CPA offers (Cost Per Action) where they increase their revenue unethically and illegally. Here is how they do it, there are many Affiliate programs that offer you CPA (cost per action) and PPI (pay per install), in CPA offers, once a potential client completes/takes an action, for example the company wanted to fill a form and they pay you for that, that’s a CPA offer, CPA can be anything in which you ask someone to take action and the company will pay you, and the pay per lead can be between $3-$100 (depends). And PPI is pay per install, they give you a software link, where if someone downloads that software and installs, the company will pay you for that. Now what these blackhat illegal people do, there are hundreds of ways to exploit these affiliates programs, but the most commonly used are below.

Exploiting CPA Offers

First they find which torrent file is being downloaded the most, so simple pick a software, video, songs etc which is hit these days, they put it in the ZIP archive and password protect the file, now they create a readme.txt file which is not password protected, when someone downloads the file, they can only open the readme.txt file, which tells them to go to any specific URL where they will complete a form (a CPA offer) and upon completion the final word will be the password, now when someone has already downloaded a file of say 40MB, he will certainly go to that url and complete the CPA offer, once he competes the offer that blackhat person gets paid, and who cares about the password ? if that does not work, and if that password works, then that software will be infected with viruses, Trojans and spy-ware, PPI etc, thus they take advantage of that again and over again exploiting YOU.

Exploiting PPI Offers

What a blackhat person will do, is join a company that offers PPI (pay per install), they usually pay from something between $0.25 - $5 per install (that’s what I know, it can be more or less), after getting approved, they will again find the most downloaded or the hottest torrent file, they will download it, and then bind (combine) both EXE’s in one single exe, I mean e.g. the original software file was PPI-install.exe and any other hot software file was hot-software.exe they will combine these 2 files within 1 file, (I will not discuss how to do that, but its quite easy and even its already distributed with Windows XP, so that’s already in your computer), and then they rename that file to hot-software.exe and upload to the torrent, people are always looking for free stuff, they will download your file and install, while installation that PPI file will automatically be installed on their computer and hence the blackhat person will be paid for that installation. Most of the times people combine all these tactics into one single file, where you will have the readme.txt that will tell you to complete a CPA offer, then once you complete and unlock the file, you will have an exe file with PPI file embedded in it, and after installation you will be infected with a spy-ware and leak your personal information where these people will use your money and information for all their illegal activities, and search your computer for anything they want.

I would personally appeal to the readers to STOP using illegal software and STOP using torrents, this is not only polluting the internet but your own life and computer, be aware that there are hundreds of ways to search your computer and leak your private documents once you install a software and no Anti-Virus will ever detect it. Trust me, a simple programmer can write code in 10 minutes in which once you install their exe they have full control over your computer.

You might have read many threads in the forums, ebook and reports about how to use Youtube.com as your source of traffic and monetize your website and/or with affiliates. Now, I will not go into details like telling you how to setup your website etc. I will discuss both whitehat and blackhat methods. I will not get into details like how to upload / download video, how to watermark a video etc, you may search this blog for details about such things or just google it. I will directly get involved into methods that can be helpful so lets get started and write down the plan. Let us divide our plan into the following point:

So whats the plan ?

1. Download and/or upload video to youtube.com
2. Send traffic to your website. Create buzz on forums, blogs, make it viral OR use blackhat methods for instant buzz
3.  Monetize traffic with affiliate programs, google adsense, selling links, CPM offers, CPA offers, Domain Parking

Disclaimer: Find a video which is public domain, or the video with the permissions that you can redistribute freely. In our example you will be using any video (downloading from youtube), so be careful with the copyrights and trademark infringement, I will not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused by this article to either video producer and/or the uploader.

Now, you will be thinking what kind of videos can be helpful in making decent cash per day, I would say something around $250-$500 per day would be a decent money, and YES it can be done, but it solely depends on your efforts and the time you dedicate. So lets start with the exact videos that work perfectly, I would actually suggest 2 types of videos, the music and something related to iPods. Now, you all know people are crazy and iPods and at the same time about the music videos, there is not limit on the new releases of music albums and the new bands. So are you getting my idea ?

1. Lets get started now !

You have to do some work, lets start with the finding a music video that you will be promoting, it depends on where you are located, if you are located in London UK, then find about the newly released music videos or about the hottest band of the season and go to youtube and search about the specific video, you will definitely see videos there. Download that video (using http://keepvid.com/), watermark (there are many tools that do this) the URL of your website / blog on that video and re-upload. Now, while uploading the video, take care of the title of the video, do not just give a lame title like “new blah blah video”, be smart on this part use the name of the singer or exact keyword that you want this video to be searched for. While uploading video put your affiliate link in the description if you don’t have a website, otherwise point them towards your website.

2. How to drive traffic to your video ?
Now that’s not tough as well. Lets consider the whitehat methods first.

1. Submitting to social bookmarking website stumble upon, digg, propeller, del.icio.us etc)
2. Posting in the forums, replying in blogs comments
3. Posting at yahoo answers

Now this will take about 2-3 hours of work to post to these websites, but keep in mind the more you make your video popular, the more visitors you get hence the more money in your pocket, once its done, move on to next video and this cash cow will grow itself and everything will be automated.

I will encourage you to use whitehat methods first, however the techniques I am pointing now may/can create you many problems or get you in trouble, but I am posting them just to educational purpose, these are blackhat methods.

1. Spam your video link through PRStorm, it is a tool used for referral spamming. Just google it.
2. If you already have a website with some traffic, open a hidden popup (with the video page) on each of the page, so your video will get so many unique hits and thus become popular.
3. Use a great tool, that does everything automatically and makes your video popular in no time, its called Tube Automator. All is done, lets move to next time cash our time.

3. Monetizing the traffic

 I have a method for monetizing this kind of traffic, first we should know what we already have to use with this. I am going to list few options for you to choose, or may be use all of them

Affiliate Programs : Well, I would suggest using Commission Junction, but there are hundreds of affiliate programs to join. You can pick any of the ring-tone offers and start promoting with it, but keep in mind that the conversion low might be very low because of the nature of you tube traffic.

Google Adsense: You might have visited several times to the pages where there is no content (against Google Adsense TOS) or there is content but way too down on the page and at the top there are all ads, so someone going there has no option other than clicking an Ad or just closing the browser. This works most of the times.

Link Sales : If you become expert with this method, you can not only get thousands of unique visitors but thousands of dollars as well. Think, once you have a decent flow of traffic and a website full of Adsense, Affiliate offers then why not to sell Ads using Adbrite ? yeah, that’s another good option. You can also display banners on such website to earn with CPM (cost per thousand impression) as well.

Cost Per Action : Now, I would say that this converts extremely well, only if you have uploaded a teaser video. A teaser video is something like half video, think a man falling from roof, and just before end you stop and give a link to your website and tell the visitor to visit and see the full video, once visitor is there ask them to complete your CPA offer, trust me you will find offers that pays $5-$15 for even free signups, so you can make a decent money with that, but just be careful if the affiliate manager finds out you will get banned. This works wonder will celebrities movies, you know what kind of movies am referring to.

Domain Parking: DP is a method where you just register a domain name and the company sets a page for you with full of Ads, and all the type-in traffic is considered as legit traffic, that means you will not spam your link, post anywhere etc, only the people typing it in the browser window will go there. So think about it ? people cannot click on the video, so what they will do is type the name of URL watermarked on the video and go there to make you money.
